Over the last three decades, engineers in utilities and industry around the world have specified millions of Raychem cable terminations at distribution voltages up to 40.5 kV.

    Today there are many changes influencing the distribution of power at medium voltages. For example, the transition to new types of polymeric cable, distribution at higher voltages, and the widespread usage of compact switchgear.

    Anticipating these industry changes, we have continued to extend and improve the product range, based on the extensive experience both in the field and at our outdoor test sites in polluted and desert environments. Now these developments are incorporated in a new generation of Raychem heat-shrinkable cable terminations, that are even easier to select and install, without compromising the reliability of proven materials technology.

    The improved system is simple to use, because the basic termination components and installation steps are the same even if your network operates with voltages of 7.2 to 40.5 kV; if you use 12 kV belted paper cable and 24 kV water-blocked single core polymeric cable; whether you make equipment connections in a cable box or in compact switchgear.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION : HV DRY PLUGIN SWITCHGEAR TERMINATIONS - PHVS-170 UP TO 170 KV

  • Dry interfaces, no oil-filling

    TE Connectivity’s (TE) Raychem high voltage dry plug-in switchgear
    termination (PHVS) is designed for voltage up to 245 kV and installed
    in cable entry housings of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). The PHVS
    is designed such that it is compatible with polymeric insulated cables
    independent of the manufacturer and can be adapted with respect to
    grounding required for various cable constructions. The complete system
    is separated into the epoxy insulator part and the plug-in part using
    the pre-moulded silicone stress cone.

    The insulators are designed and tested according to IEC 62271-209 and
    IEC 62271-203. Hence, the PHVS is suitable for all GIS complying with
    the above standard. Each individual insulator is hermetically sealed and
    tested. To ensure compatibility with dimensions of oil filled switchgear
    according to IEC 60859, which require a longer construction length, the
    entire set up is made available with adaptors. The epoxy insulator can be
    installed directly at the GIS manufacturer, saving installation time on-site
    and reducing the risk of contamination of the cable entry housing.

    The plug-in part consists of the pre-moulded silicone body for
    stress control and a mechanical cable lug for easy installation.
    The plug can be easily separated and re-installed for maintenance
    purpose. Accessories and add-on kits can be provided for testing and
    maintenance.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION : HV OUTDOOR TERMINATIONS - OHVT-C UP TO 245 KV

  • Pressure-tight and light weight composite housing

    TE Connectivity’s (TE) Raychem high voltage outdoor termination (OHVT) is designed for voltage up to 245 kV and to operate under severe environmental conditions.

    Polymeric insulated cables of various designs can be adopted with respect to shielding and metal sheath. Composite or porcelain housings with different creepage lengths are available covering the most common and also extreme pollution levels. The installation of the termination can be done by trained installer equipped with conventional tools.

    The termination is designed according to the following standards:
    IEC-60840, IEC-62067, IEC-60815, IEEE-48, IEEE-1313.

    The cable lug is suitable for all common conductors made of aluminum or copper. The flexible double sealing system is installer-friendly and ensures permanent protection against environmental influences of the top assembly. A heat-shrinkable polymeric tube containing oil-resistant sealant encapsulates the connector barrel and the polymeric insulation transition.

    The pressure-tight composite housing is made of a glass fiber reinforced (GFR) resin tube with silicone rubber sheds molded to the tube. The interface between stress cone, cable insulation and inner housing will be filled from the top with silicone oil. No prior heating of silicone oil required.

    TE Connectivity’s (TE) Raychem Cold Shrink Terminations CST are
    one-piece, cold applied and high performance solution for polymeric
    cables up to 52 kV. The CST offer a reliable, fast and easy-to-install
    system to ensure trouble-free service. Our components are pre-expanded
    on an easy-to-remove spiral holdout, allowing installation in compact
    environments on prepared cable.

    The silicone body is specially formulated for excellent tracking and
    erosion resistance. The extra-long stress cone aids in correct positioning.
    Shear bolt and compression style terminals are available to provide
    reliable connection to a variety of conductors.

    The CST components have full traceability to raw materials and are in
    compliance with the IEC 60502-4, GB/T 12706.4, IEEE-48, CENELEC HD
    629.1 standards.
